What We Believe

Our Beliefs

At Franklin First United Methodist Church, our beliefs are rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the long-standing tradition of the United Methodist Church. We believe in one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who loves all people and calls us into a life of faith, hope, and love.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior, and the clearest expression of God’s love for the world. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, grace, and new life. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for our faith and practice. Along with Scripture, we are guided by tradition, reason, and experience as we seek to understand God’s will for our lives.

As United Methodists, we emphasize God’s grace—grace that goes before us, saves us, and continues to transform us. We believe faith is lived out through both personal devotion and active love for others.

We celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Through Baptism, we are welcomed into God’s family. In Holy Communion, we remember Christ’s love and are spiritually nourished—open to all who seek Him.

We believe in connectionalism, meaning we are part of a larger United Methodist family. We support and partner with other churches locally and globally to share the love of Christ and serve others.

We are also committed to social holiness—the belief that faith is not just personal, but lived out in the world. We seek to care for our neighbors, work for justice, and be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

We believe the church is a place where all people are welcome. Together, we grow in faith, support one another, and serve with open hearts. Our mission reflects this calling: to prepare hearts, guide lives in faith, and equip one another to grow in grace and be the light of Christ.
